It’ll be meat-sweats-a-plenty at this year’s Gladstone BBQ Festival, hosting the first ever Pork Lollipop Eating Competition in Australia! Amateur and Professional Eaters will have 10 minutes to finish a 2kg Pork Lollipop for their chance to win over $800 in cash and prizes!
This competition won’t be easy. Each Pork Lollipop will be made from over 2kg of Pork Belly, curled into a giant circle, speared on a bamboo stick, then cooked low ‘n’ slow to give it a rich, deep smoked flavour, rendering down the fat until it’s soft and delicious, and bringing the weight in at 2kg. And when we say rich, we mean RICH! While absolutely delicious, the real challenge will be flavour fatigue. Eating that much meat is a tough gig for anyone!
